Own A Pool For The First Time? How To Maintain It Throughout The Year

If you just moved into a home with a pool for the first time, you may not have much knowledge on how to properly take care of the pool and keep it clean throughout the year. Whether you plan to use it for a few months or the entire year, you are going to want to make sure the water is clean and free of any debris that could easily fall into it. When a pool is not maintained, the debris can cause a buildup, and the water can turn into a green, swampy mess. While you may not have much experience with maintaining a pool, you can depend on the pool contractors to provide pool care services that are useful.

Maintaining the Pool

Keeping the pool properly maintained means having the pool contractors out to visit your property at least once per month. During their visit, these contractors can handle assorted tasks that you may not be familiar with or have enough time to take care of yourself, such as:

  • Skimming through the water to remove leaves and other fallen debris
  • Testing the pH levels
  • Testing the chlorine levels
  • Completing a shock treatment
  • Removing and clearing out the skimmer baskets inside the pool
  • Vacuuming the pool with a suctioning pool cleaner

By the time the pool contractor has finished completing these tasks, your pool will look great, and you will be able to swim in it with your family without worrying about finding dead insects, twigs, and other debris inside of it.

Completing Pool Repairs

Regular maintenance will keep you from needing pool repairs too often. However, when there comes a time that something is not working, the pool contractors can find out why you are experiencing problems. Some of the repairs that the pool contractors may handle include:

  • Sealing cracks in the foundation of an in-ground pool
  • Resurfacing the pool
  • Applying pool putty to any identified leaks
  • Installing new skimmer baskets

If you want to have some renovations done to change the look of the pool, the contractors may be able to do that for you, too.

When you have moved into a home with an in-ground pool for the very first time, knowing how to maintain that pool is a must. You want to be able to swim in it and enjoy it as often as you can. Pool contractors can assist you by performing maintenance each month and handling any pool repairs that you may need to have completed.
