Tending To Your Pool

If you have an inground pool then you want to keep the pool healthy and you want to make sure that you know about all of the other things that you should be watching for to prevent problems with the pool, some of which can be major issues that need costly repairs and can leave your pool out of commission for a while. Here is a short guide to protecting your pool.

Hire a pool person to maintain the pool

While it is possible for you to take care of the cleaning of your pool, it may be more than you want to take on regularly. The reason you may find it best to hire someone to come tend to the pool regularly is because the pool needs care weekly and if you aren't going to be able to do a full cleaning at least once a week, then the pool can quickly get unhealthy and turn green. If this isn't cleared up right away, then it can cause the surfaces of the pool to need a lot of work to be brought back to the shape they should be kept in. Also, a filthy pool means all that crud will be going through the filter and can also cause the tile along the top of the pool to need a good cleaning.

Have troublesome trees dealt with

If you have trees that are constantly shedding into the pool causing it to get dirty faster and filling up the skimmer to its maximum capacity, then you may want to have the tree trimmed way back or possibly even have it removed. Also, watch any and all trees near the pool to make sure there aren't going to be any roots that will put the integrity of the pool at risk. You also want to be sure those roots aren't going to get too close to the plumbing and pumphouse for the pool.

Keep your floater full at all times

Even though you may have a pool person coming out once or twice a week to clean the pool and to check the chemical levels, it is still very important for you to make sure that you have a floater in the pool that you keep full of chlorine tabs. These chlorine tabs are going to be what helps to maintain healthy chemical levels between those visits. In fact, you will notice the more the pool is used, the faster the tabs will go. Therefore, check them more often when you have been using the pool regularly.
